A simple Ayurvedic self-check to understand your natural body constitution
This Ayurvedic body type test helps you identify whether you are Vata, Pitta, or Kapha dominant. Understanding your dosha can help you choose the right diet, lifestyle, and daily routine according to Ayurveda.
What Is Prakriti in Ayurveda? (Meaning of Ayurvedic Body Constitution)
In Ayurveda, Prakriti refers to your natural body constitution — the unique combination of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha that you are born with. This constitution remains mostly the same throughout life and influences:
- Your digestion and appetite
- Your body structure and energy levels
- Your emotional tendencies
- How your body reacts to food, seasons, and lifestyle
Ayurveda believes that there is no single diet or lifestyle that suits everyone. What feels healthy for one person may cause imbalance in another — and this is where knowing your Prakriti becomes important.
At HealthBooti, we focus on simple and practical Ayurvedic guidance. You can learn more about our approach on the About Us page.
Why Knowing Your Prakriti Is Important
Most health problems today do not start suddenly. They develop slowly due to daily habits that do not suit one’s body type.
Knowing your Prakriti helps you:
- Choose food that suits your digestion
- Avoid foods that may silently cause imbalance
- Understand why certain diets work for others but not for you
- Make better daily choices without following food trends blindly
This self-check is meant to give you general awareness, not a medical diagnosis.
Before You Begin This Self-Check
- Answer honestly based on how you have been MOST of your life, not temporary conditions
- Choose the option that feels mostly true for you
- If two options feel close, choose the one that fits you better overall
At the end, you may notice one dominant dosha or a combination — both are common.
How to Understand Your Result
While answering the questions, observe whether you selected mostly the first, second, or third option.
- Mostly first options → Vata Prakriti
- Mostly second options → Pitta Prakriti
- Mostly third options → Kapha Prakriti
If two options are almost equal in number, you may have a dual Prakriti such as Vata–Pitta, Pitta–Kapha, or Vata–Kapha.
This is very common and completely normal.
Always remember:
Prakriti reflects your natural tendency since childhood, not temporary changes due to stress, illness, pregnancy, or lifestyle.
What to Do After Knowing Your Prakriti
Once you understand your Prakriti, you can:
- Choose the right grains, flours, and foods for your body
- Follow daily habits that support balance
- Avoid foods and routines that disturb your doshas
- Improve digestion, energy, sleep, and mental clarity naturally
Detailed Prakriti-based diet and lifestyle guides will be added soon.
